Countdown to Christmas

December 1: " In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." Genesis 1:1

December 2: "In the day when God created man, He made him in the likeness of God. He created them male and female and He blessed them." Genesis 5:1-2

December 3: "Adam sinned, and that sin brought death into the world. Through the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, but through the obedience of the One the many will be made righteous." Romans 5:12, 19

December 4: "The Lord said to Abraham, 'Go forth from your country...to the land which I will show you; and I will make you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great; and so you shall be a blessing...and in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.' And He took him outside and said, 'Now look toward the heavens, and count the stars, if you are able to count them.... So shall your descendants be.'" - Genesis 12: 1-3; 15:5

December 5: "The Lord said to Isaac, 'Sojourn in this land and I will be with you and bless you, for to you and to your descendants I will give all these lands, and I will establish the oath which I swore to your father Abraham.'" Genesis 26:3

December 6: "The Lord said to Jacob in a dream, 'Behold I am with you and I will keep you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to the land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.'" Genesis 28:15

December 7: Over the course of time, Jacob's descendants, the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt and the sons of Israel cried out; and their cry rose up to God. " So God heard their groaning; and God remembered His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. God saw the sons of Israel and God took notice of them." Exodus 2:24-25

December 8: "Passover Us" 

December 9: Moses had much wisdom from God to share with the Israelites and he said, "You shall fear only the Lord your God; and you shall worship Him. For you are a holy people to the Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for His own possession. So circumcise your heart and stiffen your neck no longer. Beware that your hearts are not deceived, and that you do not turn away and serve other gods and worship them." Deuteronomy 6:12,13; 7:6; 10:16; 11:16

December 10: "So Long, Moses"

December 11: "All the officials of the priests and the people were very unfaithful and were following all the sins of the nations; and they defiled the house of the Lord, which He had sanctified in Jerusalem. The Lord, the God of their fathers, sent word to them again and again by His messengers, the prophets, because He had compassion on His people and on His dwelling place; but they continually mocked the messengers of God, despised His words and scoffed at His prophets, until the wrath of the Lord arose against His people, until there was no remedy. So the Israelites were taken into Babylonian captivity." 2 Chronicles 36L 14-16

December 12: "Deliver Us"

December 13: "When the Lord brought back the captive ones of Zion, our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with joyful shouting; they said among the nations, 'The Lord has done great things for them.' The Lord has done great things for us; and we are filled with joy." Psalm 126:1-3

December 14: "'Behold, the days are coming,' says the Lord, 'When I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah - not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them, but this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days: I will put my law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.'" Jeremiah 31:31-33

December 15: "It is too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel I have kept. I will also make you a light for the Gentile, that you may bring my salvation to the ends of the earth." Isaiah 49:6

December 16: "Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel." Isaiah 7:14

December 17: "For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be upon his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty Go, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this." Isaiah 9:6-7

December 18: "Matthew's Begats"

December 19: "The angel said to Mary, 'Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David, and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, His kingdom will never end.'" Luke 1:30-33

December 20: "Now in those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that a census be taken of all the inhabited earth. And everyone was on his way to register for the census, each to his own city." Luke 2:1-3

December 21: "Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, in order to register along with Mary, who was engaged to him, and was with child. While they were there, the days were completed for her to give birth." Luke 2:4-6

December 22: "Labor of Love"

December 23: "And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping their watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, 'Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.'" Luke 2:8-11

December 24: "This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." Luke 2:12

December 25: "Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.' When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, 'Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.'" Luke 2:13-15
